Refined Luxury Lounge Interior Design

King of Clubs:
Making Modern History

I was thrilled when Kim and Bob Wojtowicz, owners of Natirar asked me back to design the West Wing at The Mansion. I wanted to keep the trendy chic mix of color and comfort already established at The Member Lounge that I redesigned a few years back.

The private club at The Mansion are the new intimate spaces where members can gather to enjoy each other, enjoy a crafted cocktail from the tree bar, or play a game of pool. I wanted the rooms to be bright and cheery but still keep the warmth of this classic European castle. It was really important to me that the spaces did not look like the members living rooms, I wanted a sophisticated, tailored & cool ambiance that would spark conversation and make the members comfortable and lively.

Inspired by the already existing exquisite and bold wallpaper in the lounge, I designed a colorful palette throughout that centered around the fantastic blue overtones in this geode masterpiece. We selected black and white wildlife artwork in this entry lounge, a starkness that was needed against the brilliant backdrop.  The tree bar designed by David Horowitz, has an organic and elegant feel. Use of real branches juxtaposed with the elegant modern chandelier and the round nature large artwork give this intimate bar an upscale feel perfect for an afternoon martini.

The Game room is where the fun happens, and the fabrics I selected really give a glow to the room. The whimsical card fabric in the built-in booth sets off the intimate feeling in this billiards and cards gathering space. The Jackie Gleason painting has a story to it, a blog post for another time.

The Library is where I had the most fun. I didn’t want just books on these classic bookshelves…I wanted “Objects of Interest” to spark conversation and whimsy, reflections of the travels of the club members and surprises to delight the mind. There is enough seating for twenty people, but the space still feels open and inviting. The colorful, yet muted colors are still apparent without anyone color jumping out at you. Comfortable, whimsical and elegance achieved.
