Mansion In May:
2012
While at Fun House in 2012, I got my first chance to work on a show house for Mansion in May with my partner. We were excited about this opportunity but surprised to see the horrible shape this mansion was in. It was old and decrepit resembling the likes of a medieval castle.
Our plan was to convert the large master bedroom into a great guest room that would be suitable for an adult or child. Even though we’re not huge “red” fans, using lots of red in this room seemed fitting. We used bold red and taupe fabric for the headboards and ran it horizontally to make the room feel modern. In contrast, the tall, vertical bedposts added a welcome traditional element. Throw in some whimsical wallpaper and playful fabrics, colorful lamps and pillow shams and - Voila! - the room suddenly came together!
